Not much new.

Hello, Sorry I haven't done many posts lately.  I have been laid up with some kind of nasty stomach bug that won't go away.
Yesterday, the view from my window (if I had been inside looking out, instead of outside in the action) would have shown me a horse and a donkey with spring fever escaping from the barn and going for a run down the highway.  We created a sizeable roadblock, and many good people stopped to help.  We were able to head them off and I was left to bring them back to the barn.  Believe me, I was not impressed.  Good thing Lucy ( my lab) is well enough trained that when I told her to stay, she lay on the lawn and just took in all the action.
The birds have been around more and more, but no robins yet!  They had better hurry up and get back here.  There is still one that sings to me daily that I can't identify.  I will have to record him one day and play him on here.  We still have snow, and ice and mud!  Boy do I love that...NOT!  Now when I come in from the barn, I'm covered in hair as Rusty is shedding, and mud from my knees down.  What a site!  I usually have hay in my hair also as he likes to eat over my head.  I am so missing summer.
This week also brought about the loss of a great Canadian musician, Stompin Tom Conners.  A wonderful man with great music all about Canada and it's people and places.  My favourite tune is Sudbury Saturday night.
"The songs that we'll be singing, they might be wrong but they'll be ringing,
When the lights of town are shining bright, and we're all tight,
We'll get to work on Monday, but tomorrow's only Sunday,
And we're out to have a fun day for it's Saturday tonight. Yeah "
Here's to you Tom!  We'll be missin ya!

Feb 25, 2013 Todays View

I sit here today, looking out my window at the world, and realized I see more than just the garage, the horse pasture, the pine tree full of birds and snow. I see the world.  You see, this is where I sit and read, and write, and daydream.  So this really is where I see the world.
Today I was looking out the window, and I was daydreaming about a new saddle, then that took me to a new horse that's already trained, then riding that horse, then a trip to AB or BC where I can go for a riding tour through the mountains.  So far I have seen from rural Ontario to the mountains in BC.  All from my kitchen window.
At this moment, there is a Blue Jay out on the pine tree.  I wonder where he has been.  Funny, I don't know much about them, other than they are beautiful.

"This common, large songbird is familiar to many people, with its perky crest; blue, white, and black plumage; and noisy calls. Blue Jays are known for their intelligence and complex social systems with tight family bonds. Their fondness for acorns is credited with helping spread oak trees after the last glacial period." http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Blue_Jay/lifehistory

Please go there and check it out.  There really is a lot of interesting information about birds of all kinds. I think it will be a page I will visit often now.

I must get up and go do some chores, but I will be back later with more views.
